Winter Solitude

Yep, cheezy title, I know. But hey, it's a wolf, in snow, with birch trees, and its looking straight at us...that's too many cliches for me to pass up one more. Aaanyways, this is my first wolf ever, my first bit of snow ever, my first birch trees Ever, and my first time doing fur in any form of media EVER!!!! I am quite proud of myself for this great achievement, and I cannot even begin to tell you how fun it was to work on this. I can't say I'm satisfied with the level of detail on the fur and snow and stuff, but I was too ecxited and I wanted to share it with you guys!

Ahem, now I owe my great happiness and achievement to 's contest, and it was definitely fate that compelled me to check the forums that day. Anyways, this lovely wolf is a character of hers by the name of Blaize. I decided it was the perfect excuse to have fun and draw something I've never drawn before, and then I got carried away and decided to add a whole bunch of stuff I've never drawn before. I'm practically bouncing on the walls I'm so excited! (not really, I'm sitting here on my laptop typing this, and my fingers are going so fast I have to keep backspacing to get rid of the typos)

Now I must give credit to 's lovely wolf picture, because since I've never drawn wolves before I used a lot of references, as well as fur tutorials and the like. I wish I could name them all, because they are a great help, but I can't remember where I got them all, and not all of them were from DA anyway, so I just want to say thank you to everyone who makes tutorials. Learning artists like me would be at a loss without them.

Now this is the first huge project I've been working on, and now I shall go to work on the other one that is sitting on my hard drive. Just to warn those who are waiting, that one is even bigger than this one, so keep a look out.
